Chichester was first settled by the Romans and developed by the Anglo Saxons as a fortified town, the historical evidence of Chichester as a fortified town still exists today. Chichester is a wonderful city to visit, if you like history, the Roman influence is notable within the city walls! It has to be said, the city offers great shopping and there are lots of independent shops here plus really good restaurants and the harbour area is also very pleasant, quite relaxing watching the boats go past. Chichester is ideal if you want some culture and heritage, a short drive to the coast plus a really nice and safe city centre with some great quality restaurants.
