Holiday Parks in Felixstowe

Felixstowe is best known for being one of the largest container ports in the country, but it also has a thriving tourism industry and a great beach with a pier. Felixstowe has been a favourite tourist destination for decades, in fact, it is thought that Felixstowe is the first tourist resort to have beach huts, the original huts moved on wheels!  There are a small number of campsites, primarily larger ones in and around Felixstowe with a few campsites in the surrounding countryside.

The majority of visitors come for the beach here, the town is nice as well with good shopping. The 4 mile long beach with groynes is southerly facing and a bit of a sun trap. The north beach is less popular as it is more shingle than sand although it is quieter and backed by pretty gardens. The south beach is where the majority of tourists set for, more of a sand and shingle beach with a promenade behind. There is also a pier here with an amusement arcade on the pier plus food and ice creams for sale. There are several amusement centres in Felixstowe with Manning’s Amusements being one of the most popular, offering traditional seaside fun. The countryside around Felixstowe is peaceful if you get away from the main roads, the Rivers Orwell and Deben are really beautiful to explore.

The holiday parks around Felixstowe are well established with lots going on with one having an indoor flume and pool, great if the weather is not too good. There are a couple of caravan parks in and near Felixstowe and in the countryside area, more independent touring parks near Felixstowe with motorhome and touring caravan pitches as well as camping facilities.
