This is one of the best traditional seaside town beaches, perfect if you want some sand for the kids, decent waves to play in, easy access and loads going on from donkey rides to amusement arcades, if you want a fun beach, this is it! The north beach is slightly quieter but still busy, a long stretch of sand and sometimes picks up decent surf, there is a popular boating lake behind the beach along with the Sea Life Centre and Peasholm Park, easy to access with busses running regularly to the town centre.
There is so much going on in and around Scarborough, you will never get bored. Scarborough Open Air Theatre is the largest open air theatre in Europe and holds regular events and concerts. Then you have a long list of things to do and places to visit. The Alpamere Waterpark is great for a family day out, visit Sealife Scarborough and learn about marine life, take a trip on one of two of Scarborough’s cliff tramways, go on the North Bay Railway and visit Peasholm Park and Scalby Mills. If you want a day getting wet, visit the North Yorkshire Aquapark, great fun, especially for families with older kids. You could take it easier and go on a donkey ride or visit Scarborough Castle or go on a fishing trip from the harbour.
